John Devlin
Born in Dublin, John Devlin studied at NCAD and worked initially as a graphic designer for the Abbey Theatre. He began exhibiting in 1970, showing with the IELA and the Independent Artists. In 1971 he won the Carroll Award at the Living Art Exhibition, and the following year won the Alice Hammerschlag Trust Award. His work features on the front cover of Roderic Knowles’ Contemporary Irish Art (Wolfhound Press, 1982). Devlin has had solo shows with the Hendriks Gallery and the Taylor Galleries, Dublin, and exhibits annually at the RHA. Most of his time however is spent working to private commissions. He is represented in the collections of the Arts Council and IMMA (Gordon Lambert Trust) among others. www.whytes.ie
