Edward Montgomery O'Rorke Dickey
Dickey was born in Belfast. In his youth he studied at Cambridge before studying under Harold Gilman at the Westminster School of Art. Whilst pursuing his own career as an artist Dickey was also a professor. He worked primarily in oils and also practiced wood-engraving. He was a founder member of the Society of Wood Engravers and exhibited there from the 1920s onwards. His works in oil were exhibited at the Royal Academy and New English Art Club. He also held solo exhibitions at the Leicester Galleries and Manchester City Art Gallery. In 1952 he was awarded a CBE. www.whytes.ie
