Clare Cashman
Cashman studied Fine Art Painting at NCAD graduating in 2002. She lives and works in the Connemara Gaeltacht. Her work explores and the oscillating but binding interplay that occurs between perception and the imagination when engaging with the visual world. 'To represent such a vast depth of space on a flat surface is clearly an illusion: only the viewer's perception can delimit a location for such a space' ... Cashman has said of her work. www.whytes.ie Since graduating in 2002 she has been honoured with many prestigious awards the CAP Foundation Art Award (2002), the Tony O'Malley Travel Award for Painter (2003), an Arts Council bursary (2004), a Deontas ๓ Ealaํn na Gaeltachta Teo and a media residency from Visual Artists Ireland. Cashman's work has been featured in numerous exhibitions in Ireland.
